How To Store Potatoes Before Baking In The Microwave

Potatoes are one food I enjoy taking so much. Some days, I take it as fries, other days I make it in mashed form to savor the soft taste and enjoy the spices generously poured on it. However, there are days where I crave baked potatoes in microwave at night, and not having potatoes at home completely three me off and ruined my mood making it impossible for me to enjoy other meals. The store closest to me had already closed when I got there. You can imagine my disappointment in getting there. To prevent this from happening, I looked out for the best way of preserving potatoes so that when I need them, I would be able to use them.

This method has been tried by me and I can prove that it is so effective and has saved me more times than I can count. It also prevents your potatoes from spoiling before you use them. You may be looking for ways to store your potatoes when it is cheaper on the market. The best way of doing this is to select your potatoes. Make sure to select good ones with no holes or growth. Peel the potatoes and add a little salt. Place it in an air-tight bag or Ziploc. The most important thing you need to consider when trying to store your potatoes is to make sure that the bag has no holes and it is well covered making it difficult for external air to penetrate. You can also slice it if you are planning to make baked potatoes in the microwave.

The potatoes can stay in the freezer for a period of three to seven weeks and still maintain the freshness without turning brown if the freezer is functioning well. Whenever you want to use it, bring out the Ziploc bag and use the whole batch. Personally, I pack each size that I can finish microwaving at once and dip it into cool water to defrost, and most times, I don’t even bother with that. I just pick each potato and wrap it with foil paper to cover it since I already removed the body while trying to store it in the freezer or fridge. I do this to all the potatoes and when I am through, I poke holes in the two sides of the potato and place it in the microwave bowl. I then place it in the microwave and set the timer to the highest. I put it back in the microwave because the first time must have only helped with making the potato hot. After putting it a second time, my baked potatoes in microwave are ready to be eaten with any spice of my choice.
