If you live in Haryana and are into government jobs, you should not miss the opportunity to apply to Haryana Judicial Services. The Haryana Judiciary is chosen through the Haryana Judicial Services Exam, which is also called the HCS Judicial Branch Examination or the Haryana Civil Judge Junior Division Exam.
If you want to be a judge in Haryana at the Junior Division, you need to pass this exam. The Haryana Civil Court holds this exam for recruitment, and it lies in the judicial branch of the Haryana Civil Services.
Eligibility
Before you apply to the Haryana Judiciary exam, you should know the basic eligibility for this exam, as this would save you a considerable amount of time.
- If we talk of the education and academic qualification, then the basic degree you need for the exam to sit in the Bachelor of Laws Degree from a University, which is Government & BCI approved. Either this or the candidate must be an advocate under the Advocate Act of 1961. This means that the candidate must be entitled to practice in the High Court.
- Now you must be thinking of the age limit, so to clarify this, the candidate must be above 22 years and should be under 35 years. But this does not apply to everyone as there are some relaxations for the reserved and special category you can find on their official website.
Syllabus
Before knowing the official Haryana Judiciary Syllabus, you must know the schema of this competitive exam. To start with it, the exam is conducted in three stages.
- The first stage is the Preliminary Exam, which is objective questions based.
- Then there is the Main Exam, which is of a long-form, and there you would find some long answer questions.
- If you clear the above two, you would be entitled to the PI or Personal Interview, the last stage.
Now talking of the Haryana Judiciary Syllabus, the first paper, which is objective, will be of two hours, and there will be 125 MCQs in that exam. All these 125 questions will carry 4 marks each, and there is negative marking too, as there would be a deduction of 0.80 marks every time you mark a wrong answer.
The syllabus is the same for this and the main exam. There would be five written papers in the main exam, which would be narrative or essay type. All these five exams will be of three hours each.

- Next, paper 2 is Civil Law.
- The 3rd paper is related to Criminal Law and
- 4th paper will test your English and proficiency.
- The last exam will test your mother tongue, which is Hindi. The first four exams will be of 200 marks each, and the last one is the Hindi test will be of 100 marks.
