CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design) 2021 is an entrance test meant for candidates who want to pursue an M. Des course, i.e. post-graduation course in design. It is organized by Industrial Design Centre and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and conducted at various IITs and IISCs (Indian Institute of Science). Only a selected number of candidates are chosen based on their performance in CEED, and therefore, the competition is quite stiff. The CEED 2021 Cut Off is released immediately after the declaration of the CEED 2021 Result. The candidates will be able to download it from the website along with their individual scores.
This year, the CEED 2021 Result will be released on 8th March 2021. The exam conducting body will determine the qualifying marks, i.e. the cutoff marks for each category. The candidates will need to score the minimum qualifying marks to get admission for the M. Des course.
How will the CEED 2021 Cut off Marks be determined?
Like every year, the CEED 2021 Cut Off Marks will depend on the factors that are listed below:
- The total number of candidates who have appeared for the test
- The number of available seats
- The number of candidates who have managed to qualify in the exam
- The difficulty level of the CEED 2021 Exam
The CEED Exam is conducted in two parts, viz. ‘Part A’ and ‘Part B’. Part A is a computer-based online test, and it is the performance of the candidates in Part A that will determine whether they will be eligible to appear for Part B or not. Part B is a written test and consists of questions based on drawings. The cutoff marks are determined based on the candidate’s performance in Part B. As both the exam parts are conducted on the same date, it becomes easy for the exam conducting authority to shortlist the candidates.
CEED 2021 Cut Off
The CEED 2021 Cut Off will be different for different categories. Usually, the cutoff marks required for the OBC candidates is 90% of the cutoff marks needed for the open category candidates to qualify. Also, the cutoff marks needed for the SC, ST, and PWD candidates will be equal to 50% of the cut off marks required for the open category candidates.
The merit list is prepared by the exam conducting body according to the final cut off marks. The candidates who manage to score at least the cut off marks will be granted admission in IIT and IISc (Bangalore).
The CEED 2020 Cut Off was also released category wise. To check its details, you can go through the below given table:
Category | Expected CEED Qualifying Marks (final Cut Off) | Qualifying score in Part A |
Open | 30 | 38 |
ST | 15 | 19 |
SC | 15 | 19 |
PWD | 15 | 19 |
OBC | 27 | 34.2 |
Therefore, the CEED 2021 Cut Off will also be more or less the same. The minimum percentage of marks that a candidate must score in Part A is also different for different categories. The category-wise list of minimum percentages is given in the below table:
Category | Minimum Percentage for qualifying in ‘Part A’ |
Open | 10% |
OBC | 9% |
ST/SC/PWD | 5% |
As a result, the candidates must secure at least up to the minimum percentages or more as per their respective categories in Part a stage to qualify for the ‘Part B’ stage.
